Strawberries are in season

You know it is spring when you can find strawberries by the bucket and asparagus by the bunch at the Wake Forest Farmers Market. The asparagus season may not last long – an impetus to some to build their own bed – but you certainly will find strawberries for the next few weeks along with spring onions, greens, carrots, radishes and other vegetables.

The Wake Forest Farmers Market draws more vendors and more customers every week now that this long winter may finally be ending. You can find it in the Renaissance Plaza parking lot where Elm Avenue meets Brooks Street in downtown Wake Forest. It is open from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday.

Eggs are abundant, there is lots of local honey along with pasture-raised meats, baked goods of all kinds and assorted craft items.
