Herbert Lee Eddins

Rolesville

Herbert Lee Eddins, 87, of Rolesville died Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Wake County to the late Lee Roy Eddins and Beulah Winston Eddins. Being quite the businessman, Herbert owned and operated many successful businesses along with working at Burlington Industries. He was proud to become a licensed auctioneer which led to him opening Rolesville Flea Market where he made friends from all over the world. Herbert never met a stranger, loved to tell stories, and was quite the “wheeler-dealer.” Rolesville will never be the same without him!

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Friday morning, April 17, 2015, at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery and the Rev. Dr. Bill Bowyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Eddins is survived by his son, Rick Eddins and wife, Sherry, of Raleigh; sisters, Lillian Perry of Wendell, LaRue Mills of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Kevin Eddins and wife, Jessica, Jennifer Fagin and husband, Patrick; great-grandchildren, Audrey Fagin, Clark Fagin, Jackson Eddins, all of Wake Forest; and by his special friend, Margie Jones of Raleigh.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Flonnie Young Eddins, and his brothers, Mack, George, and Bob.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church Building Fund, 3329 Forestville Road, Raleigh, NC 27616.

Pallbearers were Reno Eddins, Jerry Eddins, Scott Mills, Randy White, Gary Barnes, and Bob Abernathy.

Jose Felipe Buitrago

Youngsville

Jose Felipe Buitrago, 49, of Youngsville passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015, at his home. He was born in Puerto Rico and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Buitrago was a foreman with Toney Lumber in Louisburg and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

Jose was a fan of UNC men’s basketball and a lifetime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had three dogs he adored, Sasha, Valentino and Mia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, April 24, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Buitrago is survived by his wife of 31 years, Grace Buitrago; children, Daisy Buitrago of Morrisville and Jose Felipe Buitrago Jr. and wife, Tamara, of Franklinton; mother, Iriada Amaro of Bradenton, Fla.; father, Felipe Buitrago of New Britain, Conn.; grandchildren, Anthony Jose Buitrago and Tamia Tanner; sisters, Nivea Santell and Nancy Guzman, both of Bradenton, Fla.; and brother, Felipe Buitrago of Bradenton, Fla.

Clyde ‘Gene’ Alford

Youngsville

Clyde E. “Gene” Alford, 91, of Youngsville died Sunday evening, April 19, 2015, at Hillside Nursing Center.

Gene was born on January 29, 1924 in Warren County, the son of the late Joseph Benjamin Alford and Etta Moody Alford. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II. In 1953 he went to work with Hollowell’s and then Lyon’s Foods, eventually retiring with 30 years of combined service. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family at reunions and also fishing at Emerald Isle with family and his many friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, April 22, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Barbara A. Shearon of Wake Forest; step-daughter, Shirley Yeargin; step-son, Jerry Vaughn; grandsons, Michael Shearon, Kane Yeargin; sisters, Sally Johnson and Lois Morgan; brothers, Lawrence, Ray, and Henry Alford; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his wife, Lota Fuller Alford; brothers, Jimmy, Joe, Arthur, Kenneth, Griffin, and Lynwood; and sister, Julia Robertson.

Pallbearers were Danny Fuller, Curt Fuller, Bill Robertson, Don Bass, Craig Jones, and James Yeargin. John Lyon served as an honorary pallbearer.

Joyce Ann Dennis

Franklinton

Joyce Ann Long Dennis, 72, of Franklinton passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2015, surrounded by close friends and family.

She was born in Nash County, the daughter of the late Edward Frank Long and Lula Belle Coley Long. Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Bryant Dennis, and her daughter, Tambrey Diane “Tammy” Dennis.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, April 20, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Chaplain Dale Lawrence officiating. Burial was in the King-Dennis Family Cemetery in Wood.

Mrs. Dennis is survived by her daughter, Lorrie Weidenhamer and husband, Thomas, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Dwight Lee Weidenhamer and Robert Thomas Weidenhamer; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Elise Weidenhamer.

 Harold L. Exley Sr.

Bunn

Harold Lucious Exley Sr., 84, of Bunn passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Nash General Hospital.

He was born in Canton, Ohio, the son of the late Roxy Boocks Exley and John Exley. Mr. Exley was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Upchurch officiating. Burial was in the Wake Forest Cemetery.

Mr. Exley is survived by his children and their families, Dianna Black, Susan Welch, Kimberly Griffin, Harold L. Exley Jr., Danny Exley, Terry Exley, Jeffrey Exley and Gregory Exley; brother, Oliver Exley of Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeff Exley, Andrew Black, Adam Black, Justin Exley, Bradley Exley, and Michael Hendricks.

 James Roscoe Weiss Sr.

Wake Forest

James Roscoe Weiss Sr., 89, of Wake Forest passed away Monday morning, April 20, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in South Ardmore, Penn., June 15, 1925, the son of the late Roscoe and Stella Katkowski Weiss. He attended School in Goshen, N.Y. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, the American Legion and the VFW in Wake Forest and was a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for several years.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Captain with the New York City Department of Corrections and also retired from IBM, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, April 22, 2015, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest. Burial was in Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh.

Jim was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Grace Whelan Weiss; three sons, Gregory (Martha) of Copake, N.Y., Gary (Loretta) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and James Jr. (Kathy) of Middletown, N.Y.; three daughters, Mary Allen (Frank) of Youngsville, Diane Gaspar (Joseph) of Wake Forest, and Sandra Daubman (John) of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta Ptak of Middletown, N.Y.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard; and sisters, Regina Chase, Harriet Smith and Bernice O’Neal.

Janet Ruth Regan

Wake Forest

Janet Ruth Regan, 77, of Wake Forest, formerly of Boston, Mass., passed away Wednesday evening, April 15, 2015, at Rex Hospital.

She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Robert Tomilson and Catherine Gertrude Burns Tomilson. Mrs. Regan retired from Bay Bank in Dedham, Mass., where she worked in the student loan department. Before working at Baybank Mrs. Regan was employed by John Hancock Insurance Company and later as Sears Roebuck and Company, both in Boston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the Holy Name Church in West Roxbury, Mass.

Mrs. Regan is survived by her sons, Brian Regan and wife, Sylvia, of Raleigh and Christopher Regan and wife, Mary, of Boston; and a sister, Katherine Roche of Chesapeake, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Frank” Regan; brothers, Joe, Robert, Kenneth and James; and sister, Doris Lombardi.

Kimberly D. Richardson

Youngsville

Kimberly Dianne Richardson, 25, of Youngsville died Saturday, April 18, 2015. She will be remembered as a woman with a passionate love for Christ and life. Especially for the life of her daughter, Lacy Dianne, whose life was possible because of her heroic acts.

Kimberly was a fulltime sales associate with Zales Jewelers at Triangle Town Center in Raleigh and also worked part time at Carolina Moon, also at Triangle Town Center.

Kimberly is survived by her daughter, Lacy Dianne Richardson; her parents, Mike and Debbie Richardson of Youngsville; her sister, Jessica Joyner and husband, Daniel, of Nashville; and by two precious nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, April 26, 2015, at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville.
