The 16th Wake Forest HerbFest will bring visitors to the town’s historic downtown for three days over two weekends this year – April 17 through April 19 and April 24 through April 26.
It has always and will again offer attendees the greatest selection of herb plants and perennials. This year’s featured herb is savor and the theme is “Savor the herbs.”

Saturday, April 18, is Franklin Academy Day with student volunteers from the charter school on hand to help with the free face painting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Franklin Academy Jazz Band and other musical groups will perform between 11 a.m. and 1 a.m.
All the herb plants are grown organically, as are this year’s expanded selection of organic and heirloom vegetable plants including tomatoes, squash and peppers. Herb plants are grown in the Circle of Life disposable pots that are made from rice hulls so will naturally decompose over time and not add more plastic to the local landfill.
During the weekdays between the busy weekend, HerbFest founder Bob Johnson will meet with local elementary school students on scheduled field trips to introduce them to the historic and modern uses of herbs. Visits include a taste of rosemary lemonade.
