Friday night Wake Forest’s historic downtown South White Street will be alive with shops and studios open late and visitors, newcomers and old hands, seeing what they have to offer.
There will be free horse and carriage rides, weather permitting, and receptions for featured artists in most of the studios.
Maureen Seltzer reported, saying Lauri Arntsen has responded to requests from her fans and will be the featured artist at The Artists Loft, upstairs from the Wake Forest Coffee Company during Art After Hours Friday, February 13th. The venue will come alive with expressive paintings that will coincide perfectly with this month’s Mardi Gras festivities.
Arntsen will host encaustic painting demos on Friday night and the next day’s Mardi Gras events. She will also be teaching two workshops at The Artist Loft. The first one is Thursday, Feb. 19 from 6-9 and the second is Feb. 28, 9 – 12 noon. In addition to paintings, smaller encaustic works will be for sale which makes great gifts for loved ones and friends.
Arntsen is known for her art as much as for her work throughout the Triangle as an arts advocate and event planner. As of late, she has spread her wings and looks forward to her work being housed in galleries and collectors homes. In March, she will be relocating temporarily to the coast for an Artist in the Schools program at a local High School.
