New town attorney named

During its work session Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Mayor Vivian Jones announced the new town attorney will be Nathan L. McKinney without any further information. Members of the town board and the mayor have been interviewing the candidates for the position. The commissioners approved his contract.

The commissioners listened to presentations about:

* The land for Wake Forest fire station #6 will be two lots on Wait Avenue the town is purchasing with 4.48 acres, and the planning board has recommended its rezoning to Rural Holding District.

* The town has agreed to pay two-thirds of the cost for the new road, the extension of Friendship Chapel Road from its eastern end at the edge of Holding Village to its existing segment connecting it to Jones Dairy Road. The town’s share is $4.2 million.

* The construction of a public safety warehouse. The cost was not mentioned.

* The rezoning of land on White Street, 3.93 acres, a conditional rezoning filed by Chase Massey.

Mayor Jones told the commissioners the toll road study about Capital Boulevard is nearly complete. Once finished, it will be publicized for public comments and could then begin construction.
