The Wake Forest Fire Station #1 on Elm Avenue is the focal point for local donations. Please continue to donate. The list of needed items is at the end of this article.
The Town of Wake Forest has sent the following personnel and equipment to the beleaguered counties:
- State Level II Water Rescue Team – six fire fighters
- Deployed last week
- Fire Engine/Brush Truck and five fire fighters
- Wake Forest Power – Six men and two bucket trucks
- Police – Eight officers and vehicles
Community Donations
- $58,076 in monetary donations
- 40 pallets of food and supplies
- 20 pallets of water
- Residents and businesses have been delivering these supplies to western NC.
More supplies are needed. So many people in the affected counties left their homes with only the clothes in their backs, their cell phones and sometimes their pets.
The full list of acceptable items includes:

- Non-perishable Food (Canned goods, dried foods) ** Food that doesn’t need to be cooked.**
- Clothing – new or gently used
- Gasoline & Gas Cans
- Diapers (all sizes)
- Baby formula
- Toiletries (Toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo)
- Hygiene Products (Feminine hygiene, deodorant, hand sanitizer)
- Blankets & Bedding
- Towels
- Cleaning Supplies (Disinfectant wipes, bleach, mops)
- First Aid Kits
- Flashlights & Batteries
- Trash Bags
- Pet Food & Supplies
- Baby Wipes
- Water Filters & Purification Tablets
- Tarps
- Plastic Storage Bins
- Personal Protective Equipment (Gloves, masks)
- LP Tanks
- Charcoal
- Manual can openers
Monetary Donations Accepted
Area residents can also support this worthy cause by submitting online donations.
Cash and checks written to the Wake Forest Fire Department are also accepted. All monetary donations will be used to purchase additional relief supplies.
No donation deadline has been set, so donations will be accepted for the foreseeable future.
Local residents and businesses have already carried supplies to the western part of the state and plan to make additional deliveries as long as the donations continue.
