Kathy Anderson Kreger, 76, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
Kathy was preceded in death by her loving husband, James DeForest Kreger, Jr. on December 2018 in Southern Pines, NC; and middle sister, Connie Anderson of Clear Lake, IA.
She is survived by her oldest daughter, Amanda Kreger Turner (Tom Turner), their two children, Gannon and Jillian of Wake Forest, NC; younger daughter, Courtney Kreger Queen (Shaun Queen), their two children, Grace and Audrey Queen of Carthage, NC; brother, Robert Anderson (Kathie) of Des Moines, IA; younger sister, Debra Croft (Jon), their two daughters, Jenna Knox and Jordan Croft and their family of Des Moines, IA.
Kathy was a well loved and respected Elementary Educator and Reading Recovery Practitioner. She loved teaching young children to read and was instrumental in preparing her grandchildren for their education success and achievements.
She loved playing Bunco and spending time with her friends in Greensboro. They were a special group of ladies and mothers who enjoyed their outings and holiday gatherings together.
Kathy treasured her time with family including annual family beach gatherings, shopping trips with her daughters and weeks in the summers with her grandchildren. She was a kind and generous person who would give of her time to help others whenever possible.
She was taken from us way too early by Dementia and we saw firsthand the affects Dementia/Alzheimer’s had not only on her but also the entire family.
We would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in mom’s honor to help continue the research to hopefully one day find a cure.

John David Wesson
Zebulon
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of John David Wesson, age 47, of Zebulon, NC on January 22, 2024.
John will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Lauralee Anne Wesson (47), his loving mother, Julie Espinoza Hildahl, his brothers Dan (Sara) Schmitt, Jacob Hildahl, Mark Hildahl, his sister Kate (Nick) Broadway, his in-laws Joseph and Beatrice Mahalick, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many, many friends.
John was born March 17, 1976 in Orlando, Florida. John was a quiet, intelligent child with a tremendous sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously. John went to high school in Goose Creek, SC and there he met his future wife, Lauralee in JROTC where they were Drill Team members. John joined the U.S. Marine Corps following graduation and served with honor, having achieved distinction as a rifle expert, qualifying numerous times. He served his country overseas and is a combat veteran. John loved scuba diving and after leaving the service, he achieved his dream of becoming a commercial diver.
John and Lauralee married November 4, 2000 in Wendell, NC and eventually settled in Zebulon, NC. They shared several previous years of deep friendship and love followed by 23 years of devoted marriage. John was passionate about his family, his beloved pets, his country, marksmanship, all things mechanical, and had an insatiable curiosity for everything around him. He brought smiles easily to those around him and always wanted to leave them with a story to tell. He was a proud Marine, a loving son and brother, a loyal friend, generous, and a partner in life beyond compare.
In John’s professional life he tirelessly supported his wife’s pursuit of education and establishing her career, as she in turn did for him. Over the years he found a calling in his chosen trade of Commercial HVAC, working for various local companies and meeting his dear friend and mentor, Richard Palmer who predeceased him. John also served as an HVAC instructor at Wake Technical Community College where he sought to pass his trade to coming generations. In the past year John acted on a longtime desire to establish a business of his own, becoming the commercial face of MTC Mechanical alongside his partners Ali Alwanzi and Ammar Jassanne. He often expressed a desire to leave a positive mark on the world worthy of remembrance. He succeeded in the hearts of those who came to love him.

James Daniel Cloonan
Raleigh
James Daniel Cloonan, 90, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away at his home on January 22, 2024. James was born on June 12, 1933 at home in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas Cloonan and Minnie (Soukup) Cloonan.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Cloonan, Edward Cloonan and William Cloonan. He leaves behind his brother Danny Cloonan and sister Patricia Cloonan Orr.
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 70 years, Carol (Lynch) Cloonan, and leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is also survived by four daughters, Lynn Zabel, Jamie Ross, Kerrie Cloonan, and Katie Madariaga. He has seven grandchildren, Jason Jirsa, Lindsey Ross, Ryan Ross, Ashley Jirsa, Rylee Wancho, Bella Madariaga, and Weston Madariaga. He also has six great grandchildren, Addyson Ross, Zayden Ross, Colton Green, Zoey Pace, Braylee Green, and Ryckee Green. His family and friends were so important to him, and they in turn were devoted to him.
From 1983 until he retired in 1996, Jim was the president and chief executive of Athey Products in Wake Forest, North Carolina. During his time in Wake Forest, he sat on the Chamber of Commerce, was nominated for “Man of the Year”, and often after festive occasions in Wake Forest, Jim himself would pilot an Athey street sweeper to tidy up the local roads.

John Richard Ross

It is with celebration of a life well lived, and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved John Richard Ross.
John, age 85, was born in Portage County, Ohio on July 5, 1938 and joined the Lord on January 20, 2024 in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Words cannot adequately express the man that embodied 85 years of faithful joyous memories for his friends and family. John will be remembered for his contagious smile, positive attitude, and intentional interest in others. As he left our lives too early, with love we say onward Christian soldier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Constance (Krolikowski) Roszkowski and brother Michael Roszkowski.
John is survived by his wife Mary Lou (kish) Ross; Son, Mark (Stephanie) Ross, Daughter Susan (Mark) Ross, Stepson, Michael (Sandy) Vickers, Stepdaughter, Adele (Otto) Mauch and Grandchildren Marco Ross- parent, Jackson Ross- parent, Josh Ross, Stephen Ross, Sarah Ross, Jonathan Mauch, Allison Mauch, Katlyn Mauch, Kristen Vickers, Lauren Vickers, Luke Vickers; Sisters; Alicia Wright and Jan Ross Leo and many nieces and nephews.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, gardening, learning new technology and spending time with his family. He gave great advice to all his Grandchildren and could often be found reading historical and biographical literature.
He was an active member of the Catholic Church and loved singing in the Holy Angels choir and was always eager to participate in the fish fries.
John graduated in journalism from Kent State University (KSU), with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. He put his degree to use in an editor of the KSU yearbook and writing several columns for the Times Leader in eastern Ohio. Over his lifetime he was a journalist and public relations specialist, construction engineer, business owner and property manager. John also served in the United States Army overseas in Japan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Harold Lamar Williams

Harold Lamar Williams Jr., 50, of Franklinton, North Carolina, passed away on January 19, 2024.
Harold was born on February 26, 1973 to Gloria Garcia and Harold Williams in Charleston, South Carolina. He married his wife, Susan Williams, in June of 1993.
Harold was a beloved husband, father, brother and son. He was an avid outdoorsman and thoroughly enjoyed hunting above all else. Harold was a craftsman by nature, building, welding and fixing everything with his own hands. He was known for his humor, his playful stubbornness, and his devotion to family. Harold never met a stranger. All in all, he treasured his wife and his kids more than life itself.
Harold is survived by his parents; his wife and two children, Joel and Haley; and his brother and sister, Homer and Tina.

Timothy Paul Donnelly
Raleigh
Timothy Paul Donnelly, 67, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023 in Hospice at Hillside Nursing & Rehab, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Everyone whose life Tim touched is sad that he is no longer among us, especially since we can no longer enjoy his company, his humor and wit, and his natural charm.
Born on October 8, 1956 in Elmira, NY, Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Judi Donnelly and his father, Kenneth Pelow. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Donnelly, and his daughter, Cara Donnelly May (Brad), and his beloved dog, Bernie. Tim is also survived by his brother, Dan Gill, and his sisters, Kathy Donnelly and Mary Strickland. Tim is also survived by nieces, Heather Rose, Keely Tober (Steven Matthis), Sarah Foy (Michael), Danielle Gill, and Nathalie Podgorsky (Mike), and nephew Ryan Tober, and extended family and friends. He was greatly respected in his community.
Tim’s early years were unique and adventurous. As a young boy, he led a Bohemian lifestyle in a converted school bus, traveling across the country with his mom and siblings. His family settled in Dundee, NY, where Tim attended Dundee High School. He was a standout football and basketball player as well as a track star. He set many league records! He most fondly remembered being Prom King. Tim went on to graduate from the University of New York at Albany with a history major. For the remainder of his life, he enjoyed reading history, visiting museums, and exploring battlefields with his friends.
Tim had a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry where he earned numerous performance awards. Even when he was very sick, he would make the nurses slowly tell him the name of each medicine he was taking and what it was for.
Tim would tell you that his greatest accomplishment is his daughter, Cara, and he is so proud of Brad and her and the life they are building. Remarkably knowledgeable in many subjects that Cara was studying in medical school, they had a special time together when he was coaching her and helping her take medical exams. Tim was a wonderful father, and despite his medical condition, he was able to give Cara away at her wedding in Colorado. With Cara, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting his relatives in Ireland, his ancestral homeland.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, February 10, 2024 at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, 1051 Durham Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Jeffrey Ralph Perry, 67, of Wendell, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 28, 2024, at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh. Jeff was born in Wake County to the late Ralph Carson Perry and Bonita Faye Bunn Perry, Jeff and his family were cherished members of the community and lifelong residents of the Hopkins Community where they were dedicated to farming alongside their neighbors.
A graveside memorial service to celebrate Jeffrey’s life will be held at 2 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon, February 6, 2024, at Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, located at 4525 Hopkins Chapel Road, Zebulon, NC.
He is survived by his beloved son, Carson Lee Perry, and Carson’s mother, Cristi Goodman of Wendell; special long-time family friend, Mike Roberts of Zebulon; special cousin, Sonya Petrano & husband Mike of Byron, GA. He leaves behind an extended family and a host of friends.

Robert ‘Bob’ Nelson Baugh

Robert “Bob” Nelson Baugh, 77, of Raleigh, N.C., passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 28, 2024. He was a devout Catholic whose faith never wavered. Born on September 4, 1946, in Baton Rouge, La., Bob graduated from Louisiana State University, in 1969, before working as an industrial engineer at Siemens Westinghouse for more than 40 years. As a proud Cajun, he avidly followed his beloved LSU Tigers and would never hesitate to start a conversation with anyone wearing purple and gold. He enjoyed tinkering with things around the house and, in true engineer form, he could fix anything.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carmen Esbrook Baugh; daughters Kristin Baugh Vogelsberg and Kelly Marie Baugh; son-in-law Scott Vogelsberg; grandchildren Lola and Finn Vogelsberg; brother Sam Baugh; sister Ann Baugh Polito; and brother-in-law Philip Polito. His family will always remember him as a gentle, loving father who put his children first in all things, and as an adoring grandfather who rarely missed his grandchildren’s sporting events—nor an opportunity to beat them in “Spoons.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer William Baugh, Sr., and Mildred Oubre Baugh; brother Homer William Baugh, Jr.; and sisters-in-law Janet Forrest Baugh and Sandi Reeves Baugh.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 1 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest, N.C.

Carl Julius Kurth
Youngsville
Carl Julius Kurth of Youngsville passed away on January 27, 2024, at age 53, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Kirsten, their sons Tyler and Logan (with wife Cayleigh), his parents Carol and David Kurth, and his nephews Chandler Kurth and Andrew Kurth.
Doctors told Carl he only had six months to live, but he lived for two years more, spending the days, weeks and months with his sons and wife. He was able to watch his oldest son, Logan, marry his fiancée Cayleigh Peoples in a ceremony a few days before his death. He was grateful for the opportunity to spend time with his family. Carl deeply valued his relationships with others — his wife and sons, other family members, friends and co-workers.
Carl was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Earl and Agnus Kurth of Baltimore and his maternal grandparents Richard and Lena Shackelford, also of Baltimore.
Carl graduated from Millbrook High School in Raleigh and went on to earn many information technology certifications. He worked in technology for more than 25 years, and for the last 14 years worked at Truist and its predecessor bank BB&T. His last position was as a platform engineer for the bank’s core technology and operations department.
Carl was a loving father and husband, a beloved friend and trusted colleague. He was a passionate Carolina Hurricanes and Carolina Panthers fan and a dedicated grill master who delighted in feeding his family and friends. He enjoyed TV, movies and history.
He also enjoyed computers, gaming and programming. He spent time working on cutting-edge and retro tech. He had been building a retro gaming computer at home and last year worked on a smartwatch project with his son Tyler.
Carl’s life and memory will be celebrated in a service at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home in Wake Forest on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 3 p.m.

Prisha Sylvia Alreja
Prisha Sylvia Alreja, passed away peacefully in the arms of her mother, father and grandmother on Monday, January 22, 2024, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. She was born on January 6, 2024 at 5:07am, Though her time on earth was brief, she leaves an everlasting imprint on the hearts of her grieving parents, Jatin & Megan Deeds Alreja and family.
Prisha is also survived by her grandparents, Om Prakash & Madhu Alreja of India and Daniel & Roxanne Deeds of Wake Forest; Uncle Ryan Deeds & wife Dianna of Winston Salem and Uncle Anmol Alreja of India; extended family. Cousins Sylvie and Nathan Deeds. Doggie friends Trudy and Abby.
Prisha was tiny but mighty and feisty. She was a very strong girl who never gave up without a fight. She loved to touch everything and touched everyone’s hearts around her. Prisha loved her bows and her favorite NICU nurse Miss Natalie.
Friends may visit with the family from 01:00 p.m. to 02:00 pm. Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home, followed by memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Recommend wearing white or pastel-colored clothes.
