Tri-Area thanks community for donations

In November and December you blessed us with a generous bounty of donations which we are distributing now that giving has slowed. We continue to provide all of our families with 100 pounds of food each month.
SNAP & FNS BENEFITS Starting in March 2023, the Extra Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) benefits for COVID-19 will end. This means Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (food stamps) subsidies will revert to pre-pandemic rates, reducing benefits by $95 per month per household. At the same time, food prices have risen approximately 10% since January 2022.
Throughout the past year, we have served a record number 1,500 families per month. We expect this number to surge as SNAP reductions take place.
DONATE NOW Your donations are very important to help us meet the expected surge in demand. Click here to make a financial donation. Food donations are accepted 24×7 at our after-hours drop off bin. Check our website for the list of needed items. Or, order from our Amazon Wish List to have items shipped directly to us.
COLLARDS We entered into a partnership over summer 2022 with Bender Farms. Mr. Bender agreed to plant a field of collards exclusively for Tri-Area Ministry. We paid for the seeds, Mr. Bender donates his time and land. Volunteers have been harvesting the collards each week and our families are enjoying delicious, nutritious, fresh-from-the-field collards. THANK YOU to Mr. Bender for your generosity in helping our community. We look forward to continuing this partnership.
COLD STORAGE With a grant from Wake County, we are upgrading our refrigeration capability with a wheel-in cooler for milk, eggs and butter. Our goal is to use carts to store and distribute the 1,500 gallons of milk, 750 dozen eggs and 1,500 pounds of butter which we provide to our families each month. Those 375 cases of milk weigh 34.4 pounds each….that’s a better workout than at the gym!
COMMUNITY Stop by our tent and say hi at these community events on Saturday April 15th at Forest Fest and on Saturday May 6th at Meet in the Street. Both events held in downtown Wake Forest.
On behalf of the families that we serve and our Board of Directors, THANK YOU to our team of stupendous volunteers. We cannot do what we do without your selfless dedication and hard work.
