*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 10 a.m. to noon – winter hours – this Saturday, April 30, in the employee parking lot along South Taylor Street behind Wake Forest Town Hall.
Local farmers and artisans will have meats, seasonal vegetables, bread, baked good and other local wares for sale. See the market’s Facebook page for information about the vendors and sign up for a weekly notice about the offerings that Saturday. Remember the Wake Forest Farmers Market is unusual in that it is owned by the farmers who sell their wares there.
*Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry at 149 East Holding Avenue is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every second and third Saturday and every Monday and Wednesday for food pickup. It serves more than 800 families in Wake Forest, Youngsville, Rolesville and their surrounding areas. Call 919-556-7144 for information about receiving food, volunteering and donations. Sunday, April 24, Six Sundays in Spring returns to E. Carroll Joyner Park with Big Bang Boom on the stage in the ampitheater. All performances start at 5:30 p.m. and the lineup includes Orquesta GarDel on May 8, Blue Cactus on May 15, Liquid Pleasure on May 22, and North Tower Band on May 29.
Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, the Wake Forest Garden Club will host the Wake Forest Garden and Art Tour with hours of 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The $35 tickets include an After Party that starts at 5:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Wake Forest Historical Museum on North Main Street.
Over two weekends, April 29 to May 1 and May 6 to May 8, Herb Fest will be in downtown Wake Forest at 525 South White Street offering fresh organic and heritage herbs and flowers, live music, food trucks and more. The longest running herb market in the country is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and there is no admission charge.
Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside Wegman’s, the Wake Forest Police Department will host “Operation Medicine Drop” just inside the main Wegman’s entrance.
Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Meet in the Street will return to South White Street in Wake Forest after a COVID break.
