The dog days of August are upon us. The heat isn’t keeping us from fulfilling our mission – in August we fed more than 800 families, 1850 individuals.
Supply is Low. As often happens at this time of year, our stock of non-perishables is running low. We’ve had to reduce the amount of food which we distribute per family by nearly 10 pounds to ensure that we have enough for everyone. Your donations are crucial, especially now. Click HERE for a list of needed items. Alternatively, you can order via our Amazon Wish List, and your donations will be delivered directly to us. Monetary donations are always accepted at our website, www.triareaminsitry.com.
Best of the Best. We’re proud to have been selected as Best Community Organization in the Wake Weekly 2021 Best of the Best voting. Thank you to all who voted for us. We’re blessed to be able to serve our wonderful community and proud to be considered alongside all of the other Best of the Best nominees and winners.
615 CollaBEERation. Thank you to the 615 CollaBEERation for donating more than $5,000 as proceeds from the first annual event in which Norse Brewing Company, Strike and Barrel, Over The Falls, Bodega, Tonic, Sugar Magnolia Cafe and Unwined on White sold pints of a specially-brewed Norse creation – strawberry basil ale. Plus Lumpy’s created a specially blended strawberry basil ice cream. We are thankful that our community of Wake Forest Downtown businesses came together to help us #StopHungerFeedHope.
Starbucks Thank you also to the Starbucks Foundation for awarding us a $2,000 grant. This grant is a result of local Starbucks employees nominating us as addressing a critical need in our community. You nomination (and volunteer time) is appreciated!
Kars For Kids. On Saturday, September 11 the Wake Forest Optimist Club is staging the First Annual Kars for Kids Charity Car Show, to be held at The Market of Wake Forest (12217 Capital Blvd, Wake Forest) from 8AM til 3PM. Admission is free to spectators, and Tri-Area Ministry will be onsite collecting non-perishable food donations. It will be a fun day to check out all the cool cars, and to help support the Wake Forest Optimist Club and TAMFP.
Lastly, and as always, thank you to our donors and supporters and all the volunteers who have toiled in the heat and rain all summer serving our community. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do!
Together, we #StopHungerFeedHope in our #Community.
Michael Burger, Board Chair. On behalf of our Board of Directors
