Spring Artisan Market now set for June 5

The threat of severe weather forced the cancellation of the inaugural Spring Artisan Market, but organizers have rescheduled the outdoor event for June 5, 2021, in historic downtown Wake Forest.

The Spring Artisan Market, presented by The Wake Forest Guild of Artists, ARTS Wake Forest and Wake Forest Downtown Inc., will be held along South White Street on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the event of severe weather, the rain date is the following weekend on Saturday, June 12, same time, same place.

The art event will feature more than 40 artisans who specialize in a variety of work including painting, printmaking, 2-D art, photography, candle making, ceramics, needlework, home decor, jewelry, edibles and more. Visitors can view the art in each booth and show their support by purchasing items.

“Outdoor events can be difficult to plan because of unpredictable weather, but we’re happy to reschedule the Spring Artisan Market for the first Saturday in June,” said Jeanne Steck, Wake Forest Guild of Artists president. “The event offers artists an outdoor space to display their artwork, making handcrafted items more accessible to the greater Wake Forest community.”

Art will be displayed in private parking lots and along sidewalks on South White Street in Wake Forest from Elm to East Owen Avenue. Artist booths will be set up 10 feet apart in compliance with social distancing guidelines, and face coverings are recommended for vendors and visitors. Additionally, handwashing stations will be established throughout the area along with portable bathrooms.

Visitors can also participate in a 50/50 raffle for $1 per ticket and a chance to win half of the total. Tickets will be sold in the ARTS Wake Forest booth. Half of the raffle ticket sales will go to the winning ticketholder with the other half split between two nonprofits–Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club and ARTS Wake Forest.

Booth registrations are no longer being accepted for artists.

The many shops and restaurants in Downtown Wake Forest will be open that day and visitors are encouraged to stop by.
