There is a new benefit that is only available to members of the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce. President Ann Welton announced it Monday, a new job-posting website, wakeforestworks.com. And it’s free!
Chamber members can post their open jobs and find qualified applicants who are willing to work in the Wake Forest area.
To use it, go to wakeforestworks.com and click on Employer Registration where you can fill out a simple form. You will get an approval email with your user name and password. Now you can log in and start posting jobs.
Meanwhile Welton and the chamber staff will be marketing the site to job seekers in the Wake Forest area.

The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce has an extraordinary list of old and new programs and initiatives, and it is adding a new position and a new staff member. The position is the director of development and communications for the Wake Forest Chamber Foundation, and its director is Liz Simpers, who is also a town commissioner and most recently was on the staff at the Kerr Family YMCA.
As President Ann Welton said, “In order to run existing programs and add new ones we have decided to hire a full-time director of development and communications for the Foundation. We welcome Liz Simpers to the organization and look forward to her work with the community.”
Those Foundation programs are Reality of Money and Wake Forest Career Readiness Academy, Youth Leadership Wake Forest and a new collaboration with the Kerr YMCA’s Camp High Hopes on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Welton said, “We are constantly strategizing and planning new programs to support our local youth and one of our major goals for 2020 is to get more of our members involved in our programming as volunteers.”

The third annual Reality of Money Fair will be held in March. This year is very exciting as the Wake Forest Chamber Foundation is expanding to bring the Reality of Money Fair to two schools, Wake Forest Middle School and North Wake College & Career Academy. Since the program will be impacting more students, we need more volunteers who can help with both the planning and implementation of the fair. Sign up now through SignUpGenius to volunteer!
What is the Reality of Money Fair? It’s a way to teach youth financial literacy skills that will help them in adulthood. Through a hands-on, interactive fair, students learn how to manage money more effectively, gain an understanding of basic tax planning and tax concepts, practice budgeting based on their assigned career path, and experience the consequences of poor money management.
Click here for volunteer dates, times and descriptions. We hope to see you there!
