Unity in the Community volunteers

We are still in need of a few more volunteers to help with our Unity in the Community event this Saturday at the Alston-Massenburg Center at 416 North Taylor Street. A few jobs needed are cotton candy machine and a few of the games from 12 noon to 2 p.m. If you are interested in assisting, please contact me directly 919-554-6189 or via email at gbryant@wakeforestnc.gov.

Also, there will be a food distribution on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the pavilion near the Alston-Massenburg Center on North Taylor Street, and workers are needed for two shifts to unload the truck, set out the food, box the food and distribute it.

The first shift from 9:30 a.m. to noon will unload the truck and set up the food. George Shaw says 30 volunteers are needed for this.

The second shift will work from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. boxing and distributing the food. Shaw says 20 volunteers will be needed for this.

Direct any questions about the distribution to Shaw at g0b07shaw@gmail.com

Trees for Troops

Wake Forest Baptist Church is working for our 13th year with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg to provide a Christmas tree to families who have a deployed spouse. The cost of a Christmas tree to an enlisted man is a major expenditure. This is an opportunity for us to exhibit Christ’s love and demonstrate your support of those on the forefront of the defense of our freedoms in a real and tangible manner!
Last year’s “Trees for Troops” program was a resounding success as 67 trees were distributed. We would like to exceed that number this year.

This project benefits and blesses the servicemen and women! Your participation also benefits the youth of the community, because the profits realized are all directed to supporting our youth group in underwriting the cost of mission trips and other key activities.

It’s not too late, but please act soon. Deadline is November 27, 2019. Cost per tree is only $68 for a prime Frazer Fir from our WFBC youth tree lot, including transportation to Fort Bragg.
