Fall Craft & Kid’s Market on Sept. 7

The Wake Forest Farmers Market will host its Fall Crafts & Kid’s Market on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon at 235 S. Taylor Street in downtown Wake Forest.

For the first time, the Kid’s Market, featuring entrepreneurs ages 17 and younger who sell their handmade items, is combined with the Fall Craft Market.

A limited number of booth spaces are available for crafters and kids. Online applications are due on Saturday, Aug. 24. Cost is $45, a $10 non-refundable application fee and $35 booth setup fee if application is accepted. Kid’s Market vendors pay the $10 non-refundable application fee and $15 booth setup fee.

“Our Fall Crafts & Kid’s Market gives visitors an opportunity to shop with more than just the typical vendors at our community’s Farmers Market. We open it up to artisans selling homemade crafts and young entrepreneurs whose products we want to showcase,” said Ginger Sykes, Wake Forest Farmers Market acting market manager. Sykes and her husband, Bob, own Turtle Mist Farm in Franklinton and sell produce, meat and crafts at the Market.

The Wake Forest Farmers Market is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the community about the value of local farms and the importance of local food.

Every Saturday, 18 to 20 vendors sell their produce, meat, agricultural items, baked goods, assorted foods and crafts in the parking lot behind Wake Forest Town Hall. Community organizations are often present as well as local musicians.

While the Wake Forest Farmers Market is open Saturdays year-round in all weather, the hours vary. From April to October the hours are 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and November to March it is open 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Craft Market is held four times a year—Sept. 7, Nov. 23 (Holiday Market) and tentatively set for April 18, 2020, and June 16, 2020.
