Movies help renew memories for dementia sufferers

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre and SING Wake Forest are partnering to host a special Memory Café on Sunday, July 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. entitled “Renewing Memories Through Movies.”

As part of the 2019 Understanding Dementia Series, the program will feature a screening of the 1952 MGM musical classic “Singing in the Rain” starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds. Attendees will also be treated to an ice cream float of their choice and other movie treats.

Admission is free and all ages welcome for this family event. Doors open at 2 p.m., and the movie begins at 2:15 p.m. The movie run time is one hour and 43 minutes. Guests are welcome to come and go as necessary.

Sponsored by the generous donations of the Family of Irma M. Adams and Brookdale Wake Forest Senior Living Solutions, the Memory Café promotes social engagement and support through interaction with others experiencing similar lifestyle changes.

Although the event is free, registration is encouraged due to limited seating. To pre-register, visit http://bit.ly/WFDementiaSeries.
