Instructors, programs/ideas needed for Joyner Park Center

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is recruiting instructors and soliciting youth and adult course/program ideas for fall 2019 at the Joyner Park Community Center.

Now under construction, the 32,000-square-foot community center is expected to be completed this summer. Designed to blend in with current Joyner Park structures and the natural habitat, the new facility will feature a walking track, gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, multi-purpose rooms, dance studio and kitchen.

The parks and rec department is especially in need of the following program instructors: preschool dance, preschool sports fundamentals, youth/adult fitness, preschool music and culinary arts. However, other program ideas will be considered.

The department offers an array of year-round recreation classes and activities. Many are the result of a local enthusiast expressing a desire to teach a program on their particular topic of interest.

“We offer a wide variety of classes, activities and camps that meet the diverse needs and interests of the Wake Forest community,” said Recreation Program Superintendent Monica Lileton. “However, our programming success is due to our quality instructors and their dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge.”

Adult offerings may involve one-night workshops, active classes or unique programs. Instructors set their own class schedules, title, content and topic subject to the approval of the Recreation Superintendent and dependent upon facility availability.

Youth programs may be offered on a weekly basis or as one-time workshops in fitness, sports, arts, nature and enrichment.
