Tickets for 2024 WF Film Festival still on sale

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St., will host the 2024 Wake Forest Film Festival on Friday and Saturday, March 1-2. Tickets to the two-day event are $20 and can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/WFRenCenTix, in person at the RC Box Office, or by calling 919-435-9458. Earlier this year, the Renaissance Centre invited filmmakers from our community and around the world to submit their vibrant, diverse, and original works and become a part of the 2024 film festival. Altogether, 81 films were submitted for consideration and 18 were selected to be featured during this year’s event. Monthly Inspections Report

The Wake Forest Inspections Department issues a monthly report about all new building permits and new businesses. In January there were 35 permits issued for new single-family dwellings and nine permits for townhouses. There was one new commercial building approved, a Char-Grill at 145 Crenshaw Corners Drive. There were three fit-ups: two for retail space vanilla box at 12243 Capital Boulevard and one at 12247 Capital Boulevard as well as  Jersy Mike’s Subs at 1040 Forestville Road, Suite 140. The Growth Rate

Based on the January, 2024 Monthly Development Report, WF Planning Updated February 14, 2024 The updated Wake Forest population as of July 1, 2023 was 56,681. That figure included the new homes which were approved for occupancy. When all the current approved apartments, townhouses and single-family homes are built the population will rise to 69,956. The town keeps a running tally of approved projects with counts of those completed. The best inspections current estimate is that between seven and eight people move to town each day. Brenda N. Clancy Apex Brenda Sue Nowell Clancy, 61, of Apex, passed away Saturday evening. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Douglas H. Nowell. She owned her own cleaning business for 28 years and developed close friendships with her clients. Brenda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Brenda is survived by the love of her life of 40 years, Mike Clancy; son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Kimberly Clancy; daughter and son-in-law, Ashton and Grant McBrayer; mother, Sue W.
