Commissioners hold up developer for $325,000

Tuesday night the Wake Forest commissioners, led by Commissioner Bridget Wall-Lennon, insisted Middleburg Communities, the developer for the rental community that will replace Wellington Mobile Home Park, dig into its pockets for the full $250,000 they have promised to help the Wellington displaced residents and then add the $125,000 Middleburg will get when the town does away with part of the recreation and park fee for that development. But Jason Pfizer, a vice president who spoke for Middleburg, could not promise the company would agree to the additional money. He promised to try to get that agreement by the end of day Wednesday. Three new deaths in Wake Forest’s 27587 ZIP Code

By George Shaw Summary New cases and hospitalizations have flattened in North Carolina. The lack of growth may in part be caused by delays in reporting during the Labor Day weekend. Deaths continue to increase, reflecting a lag of several weeks from the rapid growth in new cases and hospitalizations in late August. There were modest increases in new cases in Wake County and Zip Code 27587 (Wake Forest). Meanwhile the number of new cases declined in Rolesville and Youngsville. Hospitalizations grew only slightly in the Capital Region. Three new deaths were reported in Zip Code 27587 today, bringing the total to 56. North Carolina North Carolina’s ratings remain better than most states and the growth in key metrics continues to slow. The Tar Heel State improved to the 19th lowest in new cases but slipped from 12th to the 14th lowest for deaths on a per capita basis among the 50 states. It also moved from the 28th to the 27th highest

Donate to the Go Fund Me page in this article The 47 families who face eviction and could become homeless once they have to leave the Wellington Mobile Home Park could use the help of their Wake Forest neighbors. ONE Wake is partnering with the NC Congress of Latino Organizations to set up a Go Fund Me page with the website listed below. The page was created five days ago and had $3,350 donated as of Wednesday at noon with a goal of $40,000. The Gazette editor expects to see much more than that because Wake Foresters are generous people and recognize need when they see it. The families have been served with eviction notices with a January deadline because the land owner, former mayor George Mackie Jr., has a contract with Middleburg Communities to sell the land for 260 rental units – single-family houses and townhouses – with rents
