Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce President Ann Welton sent out this email to all chamber members today. Today, I am excited to share that the Wake County Commissioners have approved the Wake Forward Small Business Program! The Wake County Board of Commissioners has voted to allocate $5 million in federal funds to create a relief program for local small businesses that have lost revenue due to the pandemic. Called Wake Forward, the program will provide loans of up to $50,000 to small businesses in the county with up to 100 employees. At least $1 million in the fund will support independent contractors and sole proprietors. Applications open at noon today. Below, you’ll find a link to the new website. Senior Center this week

Jenny’s Weekly Jots   Strong, confident, resilient. These words describe this week’s Older Americans hero of the week, Jetske Insinger, Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Northern Wake Senior Center.  Mrs. Insinger and her husband came from Holland and moved to Canada.  Their original plan was to come to the United States, but the laws required that you have a sponsor, so they moved to Canada in 1958. Married with five children, she and her husband whom she lost recently, moved over twenty times. A well-educated nurse in Holland, she practiced her profession in Nicaragua, securing equipment, performing procedures, and dealing with inhospitable governments. Her nursing credentials were not recognized in the United States so she started over getting her nursing degree in the United States and continue to update the requirements needed to retain her license.
