Get ready for the Gobbler’s Run 5K

The Jim Allen Group presents the 14th Annual Gobbler’s Run 5K on November 28. With all proceeds benefiting the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club, this family-friendly Thanksgiving Day event is a great way to bring families together and support the community. The 3.1 mile loop is an easy stroll through downtown and historic Wake Forest. Push your kids or bring your dog – strollers and pets are welcome. You’ll get a race T-shirt and be able to eat more turkey without the guilt! The 5K race will start and finish at the Boys & Girls Club at 325 South Wingate Street in Wake Forest. The course is mostly flat, looping through the historic residential and business districts. There will be one water stop at the half-way point located on North Main Street. You can view a course map on our website. The Gobbler’s Run is capped at 2,300 runners this year.  Register early

All those people who have been asking about Planet Fitness will be pleased to know Wake Forest Investments in Raleigh has approved plans to build a shopping center shell on 4.5 acres it owns at the end of Wrigley Drive. To reach it, when it is complete, you will turn into the Harris Crossing shopping center off Harris Road onto Wallridge Drive, keep to the right and Wrigley Drive will be your first left. Please subscribe, and if you are not notified . . .

The editor knows there are many readers who do not subscribe to The Wake Forest Gazette and is urging those people to subscribe. There is no charge, but you do get a weekly notice from the editor each Wednesday announcing a weekly update is on line. All you have to do is go to the first page, find the box for subscribe and enter your name and email address. If you have been a subscriber to the Gazette and find you are not receiving weekly notices that the new issue is on line, the problem lies in the software for the paper’s email service, Mailchimp. If a subscriber’s inbasket is full or if there are other reasons why the email would not accept the Gazette notice, it will be listed as bumped.
