Town approved 72 new homes in July

(The editor apologizes for the late publication of the monthly building permits recently. The fingers of her right hand were affected by a bad botox shot for the tremor in her right hand, making typing iffy if not difficult. The fingers are now almost back to normal.) In July the Wake Forest Inspections Department approved permits for 54 single-family homes, 16 townhouses and one duplex for a total of 72 new homes. The department also conducted fit-up and pre-occupancy inspections for these new businesses: NC Retina Association at 3113 Rogers Road, First Watch Restaurant at 2808 Rogers Road, Dr. Marisa Napoli Dentistry at 941 Gateway Commons Circle, E-Commerce (Arts and Crafts Supplies) at 5115 Unicon Drive, The Hemp Store at 1002 Durham Road and RPM Media at 2780 Heritage Center Drive. Update Aug. 29, 2018 Wake Forest Community Library on East Holding Avenue was expected to open in September after an addition and extensive renovations, but Mark Forestieri, the director of facilities design and construction for Wake County, said last week he hopes for a November opening. While the construction problems for the Wake Forest Aquatic Center centered on rain and mud, the library’s problems were the steel tariffs and late delivery of construction materials. The library is being expanded from 5,000 to 9,000 square feet. Future projects–Technical Review Committee When the Technical Review Committee met on July 19, the members reviewed the following plans: *Horvath Associates re-submitted a master plan for a veterinary office at 3240 Rogers Road, PIN 1840-20-8842. Walter G. Moon Wake Forest Walter G. Moon, devoted husband and revered and respected father, stepped into eternity and God’s care on August 25, 2018. A service to honor his memory will be held at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1 p.m. Jerry was born in Washington, D.C. on July 24, 1937 and lived most of his life in Baltimore, Maryland where he was married to his childhood sweetheart, Carol Z. Moon, for 54 years. Together they built a blessed life of raising their family and were actively engaged in church and community activities. In his later years, he moved to Raleigh, where he found love once again and married Mary Tate Graham Moon almost five years ago. Jerry is predeceased by his parents, Walter Mitchell Moon and Eileen Lynch Moon, and his first wife, Carol Z. Moon. He leaves behind his devoted
