Streets, Roads, Greenways and Transportation *Stadium Drive Complete Street is listed as in the construction phase. The December update says that the town board approved the $6,789,876 contract with the Fred Smith Company in December and construction is planned to begin in March. Utilities are being moved. Assistant Town Engineer Holly E. Miller said last week, “We anticipate construction beginning in March 2018 and completion in fall 2019.” The project includes resurfacing North Avenue. There will be a roundabout at the intersection of Stadium, North Avenue and Wingate Street. A center turn lane will be added to Stadium along with turn lanes at intersections and driveways and bump-outs for buses. From Glencoe Drive to the Richland Creek bridge there will be a 10-foot multi-use path on the south and a 5-foot sidewalk on the north. Last call for State of the Town tickets

Mayor Vivian Jones will deliver her 2018 State of the Town Address on Monday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m. during the 10th annual State of the Town Address and Dinner. Presented by the Wake Forest Rotary Club, the event will take place at the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church, 12605 Capital Boulevard. During her remarks, Mayor Jones will highlight the Town’s key accomplishments in 2017 and outline the goals Wake Forest will strive towards in 2018. All area residents are invited to attend. Tickets are $15 per person in advance and $20 on the day of the event and include a catered meal. Dress for the event is business casual. The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce reports this week that more than $3,000 has been raised for the chamber and its nonprofit partner Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry in the first week of the Community Raffle presented by Food Lion. Raffle tickets are $50 each and give ticket holders the chance at one of 15 prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000. Only 1,500 tickets will be sold, giving you a 1 in 100 chance to win a prize. Tickets can be bought in person at the Wake Forest Chamber, 350 S. White Street, or at B & W Hardware Co., 232 S. Patricia E. Neal Youngsville Patricia Elizabeth Neal, 75, of Youngsville passed peacefully Saturday, February 3, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Born January 7, 1943 in Charleston, West Virginia to Charles T. Neal and Mary Sanders Neal of Ironton, Ohio, she moved to Raleigh where she was a highly respected floral designer for more than 40 years. She lived in Youngsville for the last decade. A funeral service was held Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Interment at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh followed. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael. She is survived by her sister, Sharon; her brother, Charles; and her son, Mark, and his wife, Karen. Her grandchildren, Katherine, Robert and William; her great-granddaughter, Charlotte; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins will miss her greatly.
