The Town of Wake Forest is now accepting applications from vendors and sponsors for the second Wake Forest Home & Garden Show. Presented by Mitchell Heating & Cooling, the free two-day event will take place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12 and 13, at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre on Brooks Street The event will showcase the latest in home improvement and gardening products and services. Local home builders, contractors, landscape designers and realtors will have exhibits and booths. There will also be several free seminars. Whoops! The rest of us are contemplating the fun of the Fourth here in Wake Forest, but the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce is planning for September and the annual Business Expo. They are urging exhibitors to sign up for booths now and receive a $50 discount if they register by July 15. Sponsorships, premium booths and standard booths are available. Food vendors can sell food and drinks at their booths starting this year. Senior center this week

The center will be closed later this year for a major expansion of the building, and Miranda Strider-Allen and the staff are planning to keep operating as many of the programs and services as possible. “We are planning on moving programs and services throughout Wake Forest,” Strider Allen said recently. We are partnering with the Town of Wake Forest to use its Renaissance Center, Community House, Flaherty Community Center as well as space at the county’s Northern Regional Center. Three assisted living centers, Brookdale, Carillon and The Lodge, as well as the American Legion building, are housing programs, just to name a few sites. Roy Gene “BooBoo” Carpenter, 50, of Youngsville, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at his home. Mr. Carpenter was born in Wake County to the late Sam Carpenter and Ronnie Mae Hailey Carpenter and was the owner/operator of RC Roofing & Repair Contractor. A funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at New Life Church, 6900 Zebulon Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery.
