Last chance tomorrow for park input

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is hosting January public meetings to solicit input from area residents about the future Joyner Park Community Center. The second meeting is Thursday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. It will also take place in town hall’s ground floor meeting room. This room is most easily accessed by the Taylor Street entrance. Representatives from Clark Nexsen, the facility designer, and the PRCR Department will be on hand at each session to answer questions and gather public input. The interactive meetings will include a brief presentation, followed by an open forum discussion where attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share suggestions. Senior center this week

Be sure to fill your bowl and enjoy delicious chili made by several fellow senior center members on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon Looking ahead to February, there will be a Black History Celebration at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, with light refreshments. And the Mardi Gras Dance and Fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, costs $5 but it helps support programs at the senior center. A DJ will provide music, refreshments are sponsored, and mask are welcome but not required. Douglas Wayne Denton Wake Forest Douglas Wayne Denton, 79, passed away on Friday afternoon, January 20, 2017, at Duke Raleigh Hospital. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Pete Denton; sister, Colene Knott; and brother, James Denton. A funeral service was held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, January 24, 2017, at Beulah Christian Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Snead officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the church cemetery.
