Celebrating Shorty’s 100 years

“Meet me at Shorty’s.” Many of us remember when that was the catch phrase of Shorty’s Famous Hot Dogs, in downtown Wake Forest. Shorty’s is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and the Wake Forest Historical Association will join the celebration by having Bill Joyner, nephew of Shorty Joyner and current owner,  and others reminisce about the history of Shorty’s and why it’s still a favorite place to grab a hot dog made the old-fashioned way. The program will start at 3 p.m. at the Wake Forest Historical Museum on North Main Street and will be followed by refreshments provided by the members of the historical association board. The museum has a new exhibit about Shorty’s with memorabilia from many of those 100 years. See it in the main hall while enjoying the refreshments.
