Senior Center this week

Remember the center will be closed Monday, Sept. 5, for Labor Day. September is National Senior Center Month and on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon there will be a volunteer and participant appreciation day with the first Ann Johnson Senior Center of the year award and celebration. Sign up at the front desk by Sept. 12. The free health screenings and blood pressure checks are provided at 9:30 each Monday by a variety of local businesses, which are the Franklin Manor, Stay at Home Senior Care and Dr. Casey Baldwin, a pharmacist. Please see the front office and materials there for all the counseling and assistance programs offered through the senior center. Scott Allen Girvin Youngsville Scott Allen Girvin, 60, of Youngsville passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Cook County, Illinois, the son of the late Kathleen Beck Girvin and Richard Allen Girvin. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday morning,  September 1, 2016, at the Wake Forest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Warren officiating. Mr. Girvin is survived by his wife, Lisa Ellen Girvin; daughters, Jennifer Rendon of Youngsville and Lauren Kreutz of Everett, Washington; a sister-in-law; Mary Margaret Norman of Youngsville; four grandchildren, one niece, three nephews and one great-niece.
