Reverse Raffle happens March 20

The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Reverse Raffle will be held Friday, March 20, 2015, from 6 – 10 p.m. at The Renaissance Center, 405 S. Brooks Street in historic downtown Wake Forest. Tickets cost $125 each and admit two people to the drawing party. The last ticket to be drawn will win $10,000! This year’s event, sponsored by Focus Design Builders LLC, takes place during March Madness and will have a fun sports theme. Basketball games will be broadcast live on televisions provided by CenturyLink. Come dressed in your favorite team colors or jerseys, and enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, a 50/50 raffle sponsored by KB Home, and live and silent auctions featuring vacation packages, spa services, and more. Snow, sleet stymie spring veggies

The Wake Forest Farmers Market vegetable vendors have been trying – last week there was fresh spinach and scallions, among other winter vegetables – but the snow, freezing rain and sleet from Monday night through Tuesday plus overnight temperatures in the single digits and the possibility of another wintry blast Saturday probably will defeat all their efforts. However, you can count on a variety of meats, honey and honey products, baked goods, cheese and other local raised/produced items from a number of vendors when you visit the market in the Renaissance Plaza on Brooks Street from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 21. Tyrone ‘Ty’ Hedrick Franklinton Franklin Tyrone “Ty” Hedrick, 68, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Durham VA Medical Center. Ty was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Alice Parham Hedrick and Frank Tounsin Hedrick. He was a graduate of Millbrook High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Franklinton Baptist Church. Ty worked with Waste Industries from 1970 until 1986, but his passion was building classic cars and participating in car shows. Funeral services was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Ebenezer UMC Cemetery in Franklinton. Ty is survived by his son, TJ Hedrick of Wake Forest; daughter, Robyn Hedrick of Raleigh; grandchildren, Khloe and Xander Watson of Raleigh; TJ and Robyn’s mother, Debbie Hedrick of Louisburg; daughter, Pam Hedrick Doyle of Wendell; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Crystal), Angela
