The fourth Health & Wellness Expo sponsored by the Wake Weekly family of community newspapers will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Factory on Thursday, April 10, at The Factory, 1839 South Main Street in Wake Forest. The free event features 50-plus area business catering to family wellness, including physical therapy, eye care, chiropractors, massage therapy and senior care, among others. Trentini winners to be announced April 12

The twelve finalists for Trentini Foundation scholarships will be honored Saturday, April 12, at the foundation’s 34th annual banquet, and the winners of the scholarships at Wake Forest High and Heritage High will be announced at that time. The banquet will be held at The Forks Cafeteria, 339 Brooks Street in Wake Forest, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 each. Teachers and parents are encouraged to attend. The Trentini Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization committed to promoting and rewarding excellence in the public non-charter schools of the Wake Forest area. Economic Forum set for April 16

Dr. Michael L. Walden will be the speaker Wednesday, April 16, when the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Economic Development Forum at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church. The forum, which runs from 8 to 9:30 a.m. is sponsored by Wake Electric and ElectriCities. Tickets are $20 for chamber members and nonmembers. Register at www.wakeforestchamber.org. Every day is busy at the Northern Wake Senior Center on East Holding Avenue in Wake Forest where the activities are provided by Resources for Seniors. Help with income tax preparation is available through April 15 through the AARP Tax Aide program on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To get the help you must sign up at the front desk or call the senior center for an appointment, 919-554-4111. Captains meet for Relay For Life

Northern Wake Relay For Life team captains will meet Thursday, April 3, and Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 830 Durham Road. The public is invited to join the fight against cancer and learn more about the American Cancer Society’s efforts to find cures while supporting cancer survivors. Runners of all ages are invited to lace up and party down at the first Marga-Relay-Ville 5k on Saturday, May 17, at Heritage High School in Wake Forest. The charity run is in conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life that weekend at the school. Registration for the timed 5k is a $25 donation to the fight against cancer. Spring is in sight for the market

The final Wake Forest Farmers Market with winter hours will be this Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to noon – and the next market day will be April 5 with longer hours, 8 a.m. to noon, and almost certainly more vendors and more on offer. This Saturday there will be a lot of meat and eggs, maybe something green. You will also find locally roasted coffee, all manner of baked goods from sweet to crunchy, handmade jewelry, handmade stools, tables and tools, local honey and cheese. Deadline Monday for sports camps

The deadline is quickly approaching for middle-school students to apply for an all-expense paid scholarship from Wake Electric to attend summer basketball camps at two of the state’s largest universities.  Wake Electric is awarding two Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships to local students this year.  A young man will be selected to attend the Roy Williams Basketball Camp June 21-25 at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and one young lady will win a scholarship to attend the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp June 23-26 at N.C. State University in Raleigh. Applications must be received or postmarked by March 31. At camp, students will work directly with the players and coaches to learn basketball skills and about leadership and teamwork. Claire E. Jones Mrs. Claire E. Jones, 79, passed away Sunday at her residence in Greensboro following a full and productive life. Claire was born in Boston, Mass., August 4, 1934, a daughter of Irving and Evelyn Tanguay Hutchinson.  She had been retired for several years and stayed busy in her roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Watson Jones, a son, Bryan Jones, and a daughter, Michelle Jones. Claire resided in Wake Forest for several years and in recent years, she resided with her son in Greensboro.  Surviving are a son, Watson Jones Jr.; grandchildren, John and Mallory Jones Paulson; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ryan Jones.
